Vance Joy: Nation of Two – Review

Written by on 5 March 2018

Australian singer and songwriter, Vance Joy, has returned with his second studio album, ‘Nation of Two’.

This is Joy’s first release since his debut album, ‘Dream Your Life Away’. His career rocketed after the release of his featured hit single, ‘Riptide’, which was released in May 2013. The song has also been covered by American megastar, Taylor Swift, and the two also toured together back in 2015 and played over 50 shows.

‘Nation of Two’, is full of life and sweetness, just as listeners experienced when listening to the first album. There is a fear of singers changing their sound very quickly after their debut, but Vance has stuck to his roots and still sounds as amazing as ever.

The 13 track album, features releases, ‘Lay It On Me’, ‘Like Gold’, ‘We’re Going Home’, ‘Saturday Sun’, and his latest release, ‘Call If You Need Me’. Throughout, Vance’s vocals glow, and his heart-stopping lyrics warm your heart through each song as you listen, especially with the song ‘I’m With You’.

His lyrics have definitely always stood out and defined him as a musician, and has continued to demonstrate this in every song he has released over the years. ‘Lay It On Me’ went to number one in Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart, and was his second single to do well since the release of previous number one, ‘Riptide’.

Vance Joy will be touring throughout 2018, starting in March here in the UK. He will be also touring all over Europe, the US, and Australia, and to finish the year, he will be back in the UK, with his last two dates in London and Dublin.
