The film is set in a horrifying apocalyptic future where a species of unknown creatures have taken over and as stated in the tagline of the movie, “If they hear you, they hunt you.”

Krasinski and Blunt give a such a compellingly strong performance from start to end, causing the viewer to unintentionally hope the couple and their children survive.

The movie keeps the viewer on edge throughout, causing you to fear what may come next. It is clear how well thought out the plot of the movie has been made, and has definitely brought a new perspective to the genre of horror.

The viewer is instantly put into the characters point of view, as the movie has very little sound, it is almost as if we are also forced to stay quiet to understand and listen out for any sudden movements. All characters communicate with each other in sign language, meaning you must have full concentration when watching.

The overall experience of this movie is unusual. It differs considerably from other horror films that are made in this day and age and is why it is so enjoyable to watch.
